Cherub

The Cherub is a 2 person, 12-foot racing dinghy with spinnaker and trapeze. Some call Cherubs baby 18 foot skiffs, although the Cherub is a little more moderate, and doesn't have quite the sail area of the 18.

An intermediate class, most Cherub sailors are aged between 16 and 28. The Cherub offers the high performance of a skiff class with the cost advantage of a restricted design, and a healthy social scene off the water.

The Cherub has a wide spectrum of weight carrying capacity, ranging from the very light 110 kg combined crew weights to the heavies of around 150-160kgs.

One of our top sailors is currently building himself a new Cherub. He is keeping a web log of the initial design, developmment and construction of a new 12ft Cherub sailing dinghy to contest the 2010/11 Cherub National Titles in Adelaide later in the season. Check out Adam's blog.
