Racing at BYRA

We race on Pittwater, in the areas north and south of Scotland Island (see photo, below left). Racing is on Sunday afternoons, with the first class starting at approximately 2pm.

We generally hold one race in the afternoon, with an average race time of about 2 hours. We also hold a few short-course sprint racing days throughout the season, and our season finale is the traditional BYRA marathon - either round Lion Island or the Palm Beach pile, depending on the class.

BYRA combines our racing with the two other Pittwater dinghy clubs, Avalon Sailing Club and the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club. This gives the benefit of bigger fleets for many classes, and the opportunity to share an on-water community with other sailors in the area.
