The BYRA Keelboat division grew out of the former McCarr's Creek
Yacht
Racing Group which originated in 1991 and sailed out of Mitchell's
marina. This group merged with BYRA in 2001. The BYRA Keelboat division
now comprises yachts from the McCarrs Creek Group and all other
BYRA members
wishing to sail as skipper or crew with the keelboats.

We sail on Tuesday nights during daylight saving. We start at
approximately 6pm, with a start line at the Woody Point mark and the
race ends by 8pm. We normally follow the race with a raft-up for supper
in Morning Bay, formerly called Towlers Bay unless weather conditions preclude this (a rare event
!)
Racing is held in a friendly, non-aggressive manner, although there is
plenty of competitiveness. The accent is on fun & friendship.
At the end of the season, usually in April we hold the annual
"TwoIslandClassique" race from
WoodyPointround Scotland & Lion islands, and after the finish meet
at a previously agreed venue for an overnight raft-up. We also join the
Dalton Cup, BYRA's annual Lion Island race which is run in the
last weekend of November.
Our Fleet Captain is Michael Doherty - contact on 0414 983 488 or dohpol@intercoast.com.au
Our handicapper is Bob Graham - 0418 973 468.
